Scope

In 2019 Transport for NSW contracted Newpave Asphalt to spray seal a new two-lane bypass over three bridges with a grade-separated intersection and two sets of rail lines crossovers. This was a state and federally funded upgrade project.

Challenge

The bypass diverts traffic (including heavy vehicles) away from the town center.

The project ran for 10 months. It consisted of a mixture of overlay and mill and fill, with Newpave Spraying. It involved more than 152,000 m2 of Spray Seal and laying. That’s over 32,000 tonnes of Asphalt transported 145kms from Newpave Asphalts Tomago Plant and to Scone.

Results

Newpave achieved an Industry Best ride outcome on this project with an IRI 0.90.
